02.06.2025 Another Geographical Indication Success by Aydın Commodity Exchange! Aydın Çam Fıstığı Crowned with European Union Registration!

The Aydın Commodity Exchange successfully completed the European Union’s Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) registration process for Aydın Çam Fıstığı, making it the 33rd product from the region to receive this recognition as of June 2, 2025 (Official Gazette L 2025/1066).

Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Aydın Commodity Exchange, highlighted the Exchange’s ongoing commitment to branding Aydın’s unique agricultural products, noting that their efforts consistently yield concrete and successful results. Following the EU registrations of Aydın Kestanesi Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı, and Aydın Memecik Zeytini the PDO certification for Aydın Çam Fıstığı adds another milestone to the region’s portfolio.

Aydın has become the leading province in Turkey with the highest number of geographically protected products at the EU level, boosting local development and enhancing Turkey’s international reputation. Çondur emphasized that these certifications provide international assurance of product quality and origin, increase brand value, and significantly enhance export potential.

He also extended thanks to all contributors involved in the certification process, including geographical indication consultants, academic experts, and relevant institutions.

The Aydın Çam Fıstığı is characterized by its light to dark cream color, pointed tip, and slender body, harvested from pine cones native to the region and sold shelled.
