03.06.2026 Aydın Memecik Extra Virgin Olive Oil Quality Competition

The results of the 6th Aydın Memecik Extra Virgin Olive Oil Quality Competition, organized this year by Aydın Commodity Exchange and dedicated to the EU geographical indication registered Aydın Memecik Extra Virgin Olive Oil, have been announced. A total of 24 individuals and companies that successfully passed chemical and sensory analyses were awarded in the competition.

Organized to highlight the quality characteristics of Aydın Memecik olive oil and to encourage quality-oriented production, the competition contributed to improving sectoral quality standards while increasing producer motivation. Olive oil samples submitted to the competition were first subjected to chemical analyses by AYTB Laboratory Services Inc. Samples that successfully met quality criteria such as free fatty acidity, peroxide, and UV values were then evaluated through sensory analysis by the Aydın Commodity Exchange Tasting Panel. Panelists assessed the oils based on fruitiness, bitterness, and pungency characteristics.

Speaking at the ceremony, Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman of the Board Fevzi Çondur emphasized that the most distinctive feature of Aydın Memecik olive oil is its high phenolic compound content. He stated that these compounds provide the product with its characteristic fruitiness, bitterness, and pungency, while also giving Memecik olive oil a strong antioxidant structure that positions it prominently in both national and international markets.

At the end of the competition, a total of 5 bronze, 5 silver, 18 gold, and 7 premium awards were presented to the winners.
