12.03.2025 Aydın Memecik Zeytini Is Registered By European Union

Aydın Commodity Exchange Continues to Elevate Türkiye’s Agricultural Values on the International Stage

The geographical indication product Aydın Memecik Zeytin, for which the Exchange applied on 12 November 2021 (Ref. PDO-TR-02813), was officially published in the Official Journal No. 2025/00470 on 12 March 2025, becoming the 31st product registered in the European Union.

Commenting on the achievement, Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Board of Aydın Commodity Exchange, stated that geographical indications reflect the unique agro-ecological and cultural heritage of a region while providing significant economic benefits to producers. Following Aydın Kestane and Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı, the registration of Aydın Memecik Zeytin makes the Exchange the first chamber/commodity exchange in Türkiye to have three EU-registered products. This milestone is expected to boost export potential, strengthen global recognition, and further promote Türkiye’s agricultural heritage.

Chairman Çondur also expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including Geographical Indications Consultant Huriye Özener, Prof. Dr. Engin Ertan of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, for their contributions to the registration process.
