16.06.2025 Dried Fig Quality and Food Safety Workshop Held in Aydın

The “Fig Quality and Food Safety Workshop,” aimed at enhancing quality and food safety to ensure sustainable export growth in the dried fig sector, was held in Aydın. The event was hosted by the Aydın Commodity Exchange and coordinated by the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association. The workshop was attended by a wide range of public and private sector representatives, with the presence of Aydın Governor Yakup Canbolat.

Key participants included Ersin Dilber, Director General of Food and Control at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; Halis Kaya, Head of Agricultural Products at the Export General Directorate of the Ministry of Trade; Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Aydın Commodity Exchange; Mehmet Ali Işık, President of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association; alongside other officials, producers, traders, and exporters. The workshop comprehensively addressed quality and food safety challenges faced by the sector.

In his opening speech, Fevzi Çondur highlighted Turkey’s leadership in global dried fig production and export. He reported that during the 2024/2025 season, Turkey exported a total of 53,621 tons of dried figs, with 42,193 tons originating from Aydın. He also noted that of the 68,138 tons of dried figs registered nationwide in the same season, 52,483 tons were supplied by Aydın. Additionally, Çondur shared that the average selling price of dried figs traded at the Aydın Commodity Exchange was 163.04 Turkish Lira per kilogram.
