18.03.2025 Aydın Commodity Exchange Participated Creating Value Through Geographical Indications: The Case of Çeşme Kavunu

Emine Ceylan Özdemir, Project, Brand and Patent Officer at Aydın Commodity Exchange, participated in the workshop titled “Creating Value Through Geographical Indications: The Case of Çeşme Kavunu,” organized under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Civil Engagement Project Grant Program.

Hosted by BORSAV at the Alaçatı Experience Center, and jointly organized by the Municipality of Çeşme and the Ecological Agriculture Organization Association, the workshop focused on one phase of the project “Sustainable Production of the Çeşme Melon under Changing Climate Conditions.”

The workshop brought together representatives from nearly 20 institutions, primarily producers and stakeholders in the geographical indication process. Key authorities in the field, such as the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, the İzmir Provincial Directorate of Industry and Technology, and the Çeşme District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, contributed to the event. During the workshop, it was decided to create a strategic document that highlights the roles of academia, civil society, public institutions, and the private sector.
