22.10.2025 Aydın Olive and Olive Oil Sector Meeting Addresses Challenges and Opportunities

The 2025/2026 Olive and Olive Oil Sector Meeting, organized by the Aydın Commodity Exchange (ATB), brought together producers, sector representatives, and officials to discuss current challenges and industry needs.

The meeting was attended by ATB Chairman Fevzi Çondur, Assembly Members, Aydın Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ayhan Temiz, Deputy Chairman of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB) Davut Er, regional chamber and exchange presidents, and other sector stakeholders.

Chairman Çondur emphasized the strategic importance of olive and olive oil production for the Turkish economy, noting that Aydın ranks third in national olive oil production. He highlighted that the province contributes significantly to both table olives and olive oil, with exports reaching over 50 million USD, and stressed the importance of protecting olive groves from mining and energy regulations.

Discussions also covered the effects of climate change on production, the need for sustainable practices, and the recognition of Aydın Memecik Zeytini ve Zeytinyağı through European Union geographical indications.

Deputy Chairman of EZZİB, Davut Er, noted that Turkey exported table olives to 117 countries in 2024–2025, achieving record foreign exchange earnings.

The meeting included presentations from the Olive Research Institute and academic experts, followed by a Q&A session moderated by Chairman Çondur. Sector representatives agreed on the importance of joint action to address challenges and ensure sustainable development for the olive and olive oil industry in Aydın.
