23.07.2025 Brother Exchanges Consultation Meeting” Held in Aydın Following Ödemiş Forest Fire

Following the forest fire that occurred in Ödemiş, a “Brother Exchanges Consultation Meeting” was hosted by the Aydın Commodity Exchange to assess the damages experienced by producers and to develop joint solutions.

The meeting was chaired by Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Aydın Commodity Exchange; A. Latif Aka, Chairman of the Ödemiş Commodity Exchange; and Hüseyin Soygür, Chairman of the Alaşehir Commodity Exchange. Also in attendance were A. Bahri Erdel, President of the Assembly of Aydın Commodity Exchange; Nazmi Sağlam, President of the Assembly of Alaşehir Commodity Exchange; along with accompanying delegations.

The main agenda of the meeting focused on compensating the losses suffered by producers after the fire, rebuilding the region, and ensuring the sustainability of agricultural production. It was emphasized that the fire caused significant damage not only to forests but also to fertile agricultural lands, orchards, and rural development efforts. The participants reached a consensus on the need to alleviate the grievances of producers and to strengthen local-level coordination.

The meeting also addressed current developments in the agricultural sector, challenges faced by members, and potential solutions. Key discussion points included rising input costs, access to water resources, the impact of climate change on agriculture, and the decline in youth engagement in farming. The participants underlined the importance of enhancing interregional knowledge and experience sharing.
